Career Overview
Professor Roland Asmar

Dr Roland Asmar is president of the "Foundation-Medical research Institutes", and past-President of the "Cardiovascular Institute", Paris, France. Prior to this position, he was president, of the French spoken network of hypertension, and the International Society of Vascular Health.

Education: Dr Asmar received his medical degree from Montpellier University, France. He completed his cardiology and hypertension residencies in Paris at Broussais hospital, received diplomas in non invasive investigations and ultrasounds, cardiology and vascular diseases specialist distinction from the French medical board. He was nominated Associate Professor of Therapy in France.

Healthcare: Dr Asmar developed his healthcare activities in Broussais Hospital, Paris. He was the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Institute - Paris and "Clinique Mozart" hospital - Paris. His principal clinic activities are consultation & non-invasive investigations in cardiology & hypertension, primary and secondary prevention.

Research: Dr Asmar developed his clinical research activities in different research units at the INSERM (Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale), Broussais Hospital and Paris VI - Pierre et Marie Curie University. His principal research interests include hypertension, blood pressure measurements, and non-invasive evaluation of arterial hemodynamic. Dr Asmar has led the organization of several international clinical studies, consensus conferences and guidelines. Dr Asmar is author of several patents related principally to arterial stiffness evaluation and blood pressure measurements.

Teaching and Continuous Medical Education: Dr Asmar participates to several teaching activities in various medicine universities in France and other countries. He is involved in the Continuous Medical Education of different scientific societies and associations. Dr Asmar founded the non for profit association "F.C.V" (Formation Cardio-Vasculaire) - Paris; he received the distinction 'Cardiologist of the Year 2001' in France for his CME activity.

Distinctions: Dr Asmar was the recipient of several distinctions: First prizes for research works, CME and editorial activities. He received Medals from the University of SendaÎ, Japan, from the Lebanese Ministry of Health and Medical board, the Chinese Ministry of Health and others from various scientific societies.

Editorial: Dr Asmar has published more than 300 scientific articles and several books in the area of cardiology. Some of his books have been translated into different languages. He is editor in chief of the "Vascular health and Risk management" journal and part of the editorial board of several other international scientific journals.
